The Best of Van Morrison

In the Beginning.

In the beginning we came together, planned, dreamed, maybe even hoped for what could be. Together with our minds in full use we came up with the idea to run to the top of Swayambunath Monkey Temple. We realized that this will be no easy task as the road to the top of this hill does not take any turns, it just goes straight up. Straight up.

So here we have pictured below Andrew, Brook and I just before the journey to new life, new health and bliss began.

We took off out our front door, dodged the crazy dogs that have been known to bite our friend Pawan. We exit our gate and head towards the west....Swayambunath just in our sights. We quickly and easily reach the bottom of the Monkey Temple and realize that Brooks shoe coming untied was perfect, we needed a rest. But wait it was no long rest, because we were determined to conquer the 380 stairs.

Ready, set, go I thought, and OFF I was so quick....like a cat or something. First bit not so hard and then...."What is this, my legs are feeling heavy.....really heavy." So only 1/3 of the way up we congregate maybe we should say my shoe came untied, or maybe we could say we stopped just to tackle the idea and real possibility of the nasty monkeys attacking us, but NO we may have been a bit tired already.

Well, this Monkey Temple won't hold me down.

I walked, and walked and then decided, "I can do this, it may go straight up, I might not be able to breathe right now, but I can do this."

So I did, and I ran, and I ran. Up those stairs, breathing in and out.....a lot. I remember thinking "Where has God taken the air, I think I could use some of that now."

Destination arrived.

At the top there is a timid security guard to greet me and ask me questions.....I am thinking, "Quiet! I can't breathe, and I may be feeling sick."

Brook and Andrew took the slow road, they walked.....chumps.

Well about 1 minute after they arrived I became the chump....I felt more sick than I have in a long time and thought, "Oh no, I am going to faint, I am going to throw up, I am going to be bitten by one of these Monkeys."

Oh no!

Breathe Calvin, Breathe Calvin.....I thought.

Still the security guard asking questions.......grrrrrr.

About 20 minutes later, Brook and Andrew at the bottom, me still at the top seeing everything a bit brighter than usual and wondering..." I am going to faint, this security guard will probably continue asking me questions and my friends who I thought were chumps for walking were actually just a lot more mindful of their bodies, here I am I am going to be monkey food."

Well a few minutes later I began the descent....without throwing up, being monkey food, and without accurately answering any of that man's questions.

Brook, Andrew.....I admire you both now....more than you'll ever know, next time though, don't leave me up there with those monkeys.

hehe!

Our place.

Well here is the place. Andrew Bahini! and Jesse Dai! with whom I live with have moved in a month or two ago and have been looking for quite some time. God has really blessed us with a great location. One floor above ours is where Brooker and Kara Didi live whom I am blessed to serve alongside. Two floors down is a itty bitty room we call an office! And the rest of the pictures you see here is where we are currently living.

From top to bottom:

Picture 2: Guest Room is located right when you walk in, it will be used for a living room, guest room and caroms playing.

Picture 3: Kitchen:We have running water, but it has to be filtered to drink, otherwise we may introduce some not so lovely bacteria to our system.

Picture 9: View from the patio, where we spend a lot of time!

So, for months Jesse looked for a place to call home, then Andrew came to join in this venture, coincidentally this place fell into their laps. Here with Word Made Flesh we believe in birthing communities centered around the peace, love and justice of Jesus. What better way to do this then to all live in the same building! Next I will try to get you mini staff bios and pics so you know who I am working with!

So the Kitchen:
So our kitchen is great, but the counter is a bit low....I find myself always bent over and then thinking to myself "Man my back hurts? Oh maybe is b/c I am half bent over doing the dishes."

Peace and Love hippies!

So the FALLING and Forgetting has begun. I have been losing things left and right....I mean I have only two hiking bags of stuff I brought out here for the next three years, and for some reason I keep losing things....sheesh. Falling....I left that here for sure.

My friends (Jordan, Colleen and Elizabeth) will remember that I had slipped in the holy river, falling in gutters and so on and so forth. Well I picked up right where I left off. We hopped the gate last night and I came to land and my feet hit the ground and WHOOP out from under me within no time I am on my butt. Sheeesh!
